How WGS Transformed Waste Management for ISS Produce

‍Background

ISS Produce in Kent packs over 200 SKUs a day of organic and non-organic produce. As a quality focussed packing partner, the company aims to provide the highest standards of product traceability whilst operating in the most sustainable way. Specialising primarily in the fresh produce sector in the UK, the company offers a complete end to end service from port to customer depot.

Previously, ISS Produce was receiving a waste management service from a different provider. Unfortunately, the service they received was extremely erratic with limited flexibility. If additional collections were required, which is quite often the case with a range of businesses, this proved to be an issue and resulted in insufficient bin capacity.

The Approach

Being unhappy with their current provider, ISS Produce decided it was time to look for a new waste management company. The team set to work, searching the internet for a reputable, local hygiene waste management business and found WGS in a Google search. By looking at the WGS website, ISS Produce felt the company fitted their requirements and made contact with WGS.

Following contact with WGS, ISS Produce were happy that WGS could fulfill what they were looking for. We then began our waste management service with ISS Produce and now provide the company with feminine hygiene waste bins for their washrooms, dual vending units, Oxy Pro units and a Sharps bin on a weekly collection basis.

‍The Results

ISS Produce have been very happy with the service provided by WGS and by increasing the size of the waste bins to 50 litres, the company has managed to reduce their number of weekly collections to one instead of two. This has not only saved money, it has prevented any issues with bins being full, like they experienced with their previous provider. The addition of the Oxy Pro units has also vastly improved the odour in their toilet areas and made it much more tolerable environment.
